This makes detecting illegal workers much more difficult, but on the other hand can result in the most severe punishment including possible imprisonment. Imprisonment of illegal immigrants puts even more strain on the economy in order to keep someone in jail who technically should not even be in the country.
The I-9 from is set up to ensure that only legal citizens are able to get jobs, but with immigrants willing to work so cheaply, people will always hire them. With the penalties and fines already in place, it’s really up to the employers to regulate themselves and make the right decision.
